Casting
This group of processes captures the various types of Casting. Casting is when molten metal is poured into the cavity of a mould and left to solidify, subsequently taking the form of the cavity.
Shaping of the liquid metal is performed by a number of methods, but all methods involve the use of a mould or die which forms a cavity or void, into which the molten metal can flow freely and solidify.
The main variation in processing methods is the material and form of the Mould or Die itself.
Variations in the delivery mechanism of the molten metal into the mould cavity make up further refinements and variations of the casting processes.
