Plate & Sheet Metal Bending & Rolling
This group of processes encompasses the forming of flat metal stock, usually in sheet or strip form into 3 dimensional forms through bending along a single line.
Application of pressure can be achieved through linear acting tools which bend or "fold" material in a single direction, or through rotary tools or rollers which progressively bend the material as it is fed between the rollers.
Typical components formed using Plate & Sheet Metal Bending & Rolling are angled brackets, Curved fascias, Structural Steel Products, Bespoke Pipe or Tubes, Cylindrical and Conical forms amongst others.
Bending or folding is linear, as the material rotates about a single straight axis as it is formed. For complex 3D forming of sheet or plate metal, with material deforming in multiple axes see "Metal Pressing".
