forming-manufacturing-processes > Non-Ferrous Investment Casting

This process encompasses the use of disposable ceramic moulds to form geometry from the solidification of molten Non-Ferrous Metal by casting.

The mould material and construction method is what differentiates the casting processes, in Non-Ferrous Investment Casting the ceramic moulds are created by overlaying ceramic slurry onto a wax, or other expendable material which is then fired to create a mould with relatively complex geometry and high strength and stability at high temperatures.
