forming-manufacturing-processes > Metal Injection Moulding

Metal Injection Moulding is like any other "Injection Moulding" process.

A metal powder is mixed with a binder, it is heated in a vat and then injected under varying levels of pressure into a closed mould. This creates a “green” component (not full strength), the part is then sintered to create a dense metal part.

Injection moulding tools can include cores and complex sliding arrangements to create multi-dimensional geometry, designed to manufacture 100’s of thousands of components. Tools can also be simplistic and designed only to last a small batch production run.
