forming-manufacturing-processes > Hot Radial Forging & Swaging
In this process a hot bar or pre-form is rotated whilst having pressure applied to its outer perimeter via rollers or forming dies all acting towards the centre of the workpiece, hence the name Radial Forging.
Typically formed on a cylinder or section with high levels of rotational symmetry.
This process is analogous with Rotary Swaging, however Hot Radial Forging and Swaging are performed above the recrystalisation temperature of the material.
