forming-manufacturing-processes > Hot Extrusion Die Forming

Stock material is transformed into a required Section or Profile shape by forcing the stock material through an extrusion die. With Hot Extrusion Die Forming, as suggested by the name, extrusion is performed at temperature, with heat applied to make the material flow through the die whilst in the solid state.

This process also encompasses "Warm" Extrusion Die Forming - which is a lower temperature variant which can create profiles without the need for subsequent heat treatment.

Aluminium profiles are the most commonly known output of hot extrusion die forming, although other metals such as Copper and Brass are extruded.
