forming-manufacturing-processes > Cold Extrusion Die Forming

Stock material is transformed into a required Section or Profile shape by forcing the stock material through an extrusion die. With Cold Extrusion Die Forming, as suggested by the name, extrusion is performed without the addition of heat. Without heat applied, higher extrusion forces are required to enable the material to flow through the die whilst in the solid state.

Cold Extrusion Die Forming can create profiles without the need for subsequent heat treatment, that are inherently higher strength than their Hot Extruded counterparts.

Aluminium profiles are the most commonly known output of Cold extrusion die forming, although other metals such as Copper and Brass are extruded.
