Conversion Coatings
Conversion Coatings cover the range of processes where chemical action between a coating solution and a metal is used to provide a protective layer to a metal.
Conversion Coatings offer improved surface hardness and increase the resistance to corrosion of a component. Additionally, they can be used to add a decorative and colourful finish to a component.
The process is typically carried out by submersing the component or by spraying the coating onto it. General processes include:
• Phosphating
• Anodising
• Chromate Conversion Coating
• Chemical Blacking
