bending-manufacturing-processes > Tube & Section Press Bending
This process category covers the creation of a bend in a tube or section using a press with a linear motion, as with press braking.
Tooling may be generic or made to suit the application. Section changes or squashing of the tube is typical.
This category covers material diameters from 6mm up to 75mm, and/or a wall thicknesses of less than 3mm (typically)
For heavier sections, diameters or wall thicknesses see "Heavy Pipe & Section Bending".
Typically, a lower volume, bespoke fabrication process - but can be applied at higher volume with dedicated equipment, without the expense of tube bending machinery.
This is not to be confused with CNC Tube & Section Bending in which the use of purpose built tube bending equipment is deployed, including dies with a rotational axis and sweeping formers as with mandrel forming.
