Mechanical Micromachining is simply the miniaturisation of well known machining processes. All the processes follow the same methodologies of the conventional processes however they are performed using macroscopic tooling.

The two main categories are:

Processes working with undefined cutting edges i.e. grinding, honing, lapping,

Processes working with defined cutting edges i.e. drilling, milling and slotting etc.
