This process involves the use of a Cylindrical Grinder, or Universal Grinder with an external grinding wheel.

This process is used to externally grind components which have been machined but need a higher degree of dimensional accuracy or better surface finish.

External cylindrical grinding is highly flexible, with the ability to grind forms other than simplistic cylinders, such as cam lobes, tri-lobes, and tapers.
