Edge Preparation is the specific process of cutting an angle or profile into the edge of Plate materials, or in Pipes.

This process is often performed on a purpose built machine, typically as preparation for further processing such as welding.

Some profiling processes have an integrated edge preparation mechanism - as with 3D Plasma Cutting for example, an Edge Preparation can be imparted during the profiling process, eliminating the need for further processing.
