shaping-manufacturing-processes > 2D Laser Cutting

This process uses a concentrated Laser Beam that is CNC controlled to cut complex 2D contours in a wide range of materials. The 2D limitation of the process means all edges are "straight".

The main features of this process are; it is fast, highly accurate and is non-contact, therefore meaning material properties do not change and distortion does not occur either, as only a very small amount of heat is generated by the Laser.

Do to the running costs of the machine, Laser cutting is not cost effective for small batch production.
