moulding-additive-manufacture > Resin Infusion

Resin Infusion is very similar to “Vacuum Bag Moulding”, however it is restricted to Dry Fibres only. The main difference is Resin is introduced to the lay up after the vacuum has been drawn.

The process involves Dry Fibres and other infusion components being laid into the female mould before the bag is placed over the mould. Once the bag is secured, a Vacuum is created, a pre-calculated volume of resin is mixed, and an inlet pipe is placed in the pot. The inlet is then opened, the resin is drawn from the pot and progressively impregnates the dry fibres. Once fully impregnation is achieved, the vacuum pump is switched off, however the pressure difference is maintained within the bag. The component is then left to cure.
