moulding-additive-manufacture > Reaction Injection Moulding (RIM)

This process encompasses the use of Thermoset resins, mixed just prior to injection into a mould cavity at relatively low pressure.

The mould tool may be heated during injection. Tooling materials range from Silicone, similar to those used for vacuum casting, GRP to aluminium tooling.

It is the reaction between the mixed resins that causes the component to solidify.

Reaction Injection Moulding can be suitable for low to mid-volume production environments.

RIM can produce components that are fully rigid, soft, and self-skinning foams.
