moulding-additive-manufacture > Injection Blow Moulding

This process involves the forming of a hollow plastic component through a combination of two production stages, Injection and Expansion.

The injection stage creates a preform. Within this stage, accurate geometries such as screw threads can be integrated. Following this the preform is expanded by the introduction of typically gas pressure, whilst the preform is heated.

A variation of the process is "Injection Stretch Blow Moulding" which is included within this category. As the name suggests, whilst the components is being expanded a stretch rod is introduced and the component is stretched longitudinally.
