moulding-additive-manufacture > Dip Moulding
Dip Moulding is a process where a preheated mandrel is dipped into melted plastics. The heated mandrel attracts the molten plastic, once dipped, the mandrel is removed. A thin layer of plastic is left on the mandrel. Depending on the geometry these are then ‘popped’ off or compressed air is used to release them.
The properties of the components tend to be rigid however have an element of flexibility and elasticity because of the thin wall. This process is often used for PVC covers.
