moulding-additive-manufacture > Continuous Lamination

Continuous Lamination is a specialised process commonly used to produce composite panels for trailer panelling, sanitary panelling, road signs, fencing.

The process pulls 3 or more sheets of material through at once, the top and bottom layers tend to be plastic sheets with resin on once side, the reinforcing fibre mat is then sandwiched between these sheets. Rollers press the sheets together, forcing air out, the laminate is then passed through an ‘oven’ where the resin is activated and cures. Once cured the sheets are cut to specified sizes.

This process is best suited for high production volumes, it is not hugely flexible, however flat or corrugated sheets can be easily produced.
