joining-manufacturing-processes > Salt Bath Brazing

As the name suggests, this process involves a bath of Molten Salt which acts as the brazing flux.

Assemblies are pre-loaded with filler metal and dipped into the molten flux.

Assemblies as a result are heated almost uniformly lowering distortion, dipping may only be for minutes.

The process can result in good EMI and RF shielding, which is why the process is particularly popular for electronics enclosures and within the Aerospace and Defence Industries.
