inspection-and-assembly-manufacturing-processes > PCB Assembly, Through-Hole

This section encompasses the through-hole mounting of components onto a printed circuit board (PCB), rather than mounting the component to the surface of the board.

Typically, the through-hole mounting process involves placing the leads of an electronic component through holes in the PCB. Although the assembly time is longer compared with surface mounted PCB assemblies, the components have a stronger connection to the PCB, so can withstand more stress.

For surface mounting assembly of PCB components, see PCB Assembly, Surface Mounting.
