This section encompasses all methods of Magnetic Particle Inspection, which is primarily used to detect cracks on the surface of magnetic materials.

The inspection method magnetises a part and measures the magnetic field. If there is a flaw in the surface of the part, the magnetic field distorts, and a flux leakage occurs around the flaw.

This method is applicable to all metals which can be strongly magnetised.
