inspection-and-assembly-manufacturing-processes > Feritscope Analysis

This section covers Feritscope Analysis, a process used to measure the ferritic content in steel.

This process works using magnetic induction to measure the amount of ferrite within a steel part. Feritscope Analysis is also used to determine the ferrite content within a weld. Too much ferrite in a weld will reduce toughness and ductility, whereas too little ferrite makes the weld vulnerable to cracking under heat.

Ensuring the ferritic levels are correct will help ensure the part maintains its quality over its lifespan, without degrading or failing earlier than expected.
