finishing-and-treatment-manufacturing-processes > Zinc Flake Coating
This process encompasses the use of a mixture of Zinc and Aluminium flakes in an inorganic binder matrix to coat a component using a non-electrolytic process.
Zinc Flake Coating is typically applied either using as a spray or by complete submersion of the component, with any excess coating being drained. This application method can be accurately controlled and is good for ensuring an even covering on complex sizes and shapes.
This process offers excellent corrosion protection which lasts for a very long time. Additionally, the process can resist extreme temperatures and can prevent galvanic corrosion. Zinc Flake Coating is popular in the automotive industry and can also be used in hardware such as bolts, nuts and clips to improve corrosion resistance.
