The section comprises Vapour Blasting, which is also known as Wet Blasting or Liquid Honing.
For this process, water is used as a lubricant to provide a softer impact with the surface of a component. The cleaning is provided by the flow of water rather than from the impact of the media.
By combining the abrasive media with water, it increases its lifespan as wear is reduced. Additionally, the abrasive media does not get impregnated in the surface of the component, and there is no dust or break-up of the media which occurs in dry (air) blasting.
Vapour Blasting is typically used for cleaning of dies and moulds, the removal of paint, rust and carbon in engineering applications and to prepare surface prior to bonding.
