Tin Plating is a process where a layer of tin is deposited over the surface of a component to provide enhanced performance for its required application.

Tin offers good corrosion protection, and is FDA approved, making it suitable for use within the food industry. One of the most popular applications of Tin Plating is for food containers, or ‘tins’. These containers are made from sheet steel, with a Tin Plating applied to the surface to make the container suitable for use with food.

Tin Plating is also popular in electronic applications, as it has good conductivity and excellent solderability. Other applications where Tin Plating is popular is the aerospace industry and for use in hardware and fasteners.
