finishing-and-treatment-manufacturing-processes > Semi-Inert Atmosphere Heat Treatment

Heat treatment in a positive atmosphere of inert gas. Unlike full inert atmosphere heat treatment, gasses are not evacuated prior to the introduction of inert gas.

Inert gas is then allowed to flow through and out of the furnace, maintaining a positive pressure of inert gas.As a result of the gasses in the furnace prior to filling with inert media, some scaling still occurs, but is a drastic improvement over open air furnace treatments.
