finishing-and-treatment-manufacturing-processes > Plasma Nitriding

Plasma Nitriding involves the use of a vacuum chamber and a plasma generator to Ionise Gas Particles introduced to the chamber during the nitriding cycle.

Gas particles are driven into the surface of the component by ionisation, or Implantation at temperature and high speed, generated by the plasma.

This process category includes only the use of plasma as the key driving force behind the nitriding process. For furnace, or salt bath methods see "Nitriding"
