finishing-and-treatment-manufacturing-processes > Open Air Furnace Heat Treatment

This process encompasses heat treatment that takes place in an uncontrolled atmosphere or "Open to Air".

Components are placed in a furnace, or on a moving platen the furnace is then sealed for heat insulation, but not sealed to atmosphere.

Heat energy can be generated in a number of ways, this process category excludes the use of direct flame, instead see "Flame Hardening".
