finishing-and-treatment-manufacturing-processes > Mechanical Polishing
Mechanical Polishing is a manual hand sanding process, typically making use of rotating or linearly actuated tools, to remove scratches and damage from the surface of a material. This is done using various forms of abrasives.
This process is used for the finishing of prototype components, as well as producing decorative items and various types of moulds. Additionally, Mechanical Polishing can be used to prepare the surface of a component ready for Electropolishing.
With precise and accurate Mechanical Polishing, a surface finish below 0.10 Ra Microns is achievable.
