finishing-and-treatment-manufacturing-processes > Inert Atmosphere Heat Treatment
This process encompasses heat treatment that takes place in a 100% inert atmosphere.
Components are placed in a vacuum chamber, gasses are evacuated and replaced with an inert atmosphere prior to heating.
The atmosphere is then monitored and controlled during the heat treatment cycle. As a result of there being no reactant gases present whilst the components are at high temperature, there is no scaling present as with typical open air furnace heat treatment.
