Glass Flake Coating adds small glass flakes into a resin binder to provide increased protection to a substrate.
This process works by creating a barrier on top of the substrate, which consists of multiple layers of glass flakes mixed with a binder. The laminar layers of the glass flakes make it very difficult for moisture or corrosive ions to reach the surface of the substrate. With the glass flakes being small and transparent, they have very little interference with the rest of the material coating.
The addition of glass flakes improves corrosion resistance, wear resistance and offers good thermal shock resistance. Glass Flake Coating is popular in a wide range of applications, including marine, oil and gas, chemical plants and mining.
