Double Sided Flat Lapping is a polishing process which removes material from the top and bottom of a surface simultaneously to improve the surface finish of a component and achieve high levels of parallelism.

This process places the component and an abrasive between two lapping plates. Pressure is applied to the plates and both the component and abrasive are rolled around between them. This removes material from the surface to produce an accurate uniformity and parallelism between the flat surfaces.

Double Sided Flat Lapping is a stress-free process and the parts do not incur any thermal distortion.
