Degreasing & Washing is the process of removing swarf, oils and associated chemicals from the surface of a component.

This process is typically achieved with solvents, with a variety of methods that can be implemented. These include solvent vapourisation, submerged or solvent washing processes and ultrasonic solvent bath methods.

The process can be used to prepare components for further processing, such as plating or coating, where surface contamination would impact the outcome of further processing.
